To Prepare

A special gimmicked card is required. A double-faced card that appears to be the back of a blue backed Bicycle playing card on one side and the front of a Bicycle card box on the other. Since the gaff is never handled by the spectators, you can make one by rubber cementing the box front and card back together, or, you can order one beautifully split and no thicker than a normal playing card, from "Cards by Martin", 44533 N. Date, Lancaster, CA 93534. Write for the current price. Also required is a matching deck of blue backed Bicycle playing cards and a rubber band. In addition, you'll also need a small prediction card upon which you have printed the name of the card you are about to force.

From the deck, remove a duplicate of the card you have predicted and any other two cards. To set-up, place the gimmicked card on the table with the box side down. On top of this, place two indifferent cards, face down. Finally, place the card that matches the prediction face down on top of all. Place all four cards against the actual front of the Bicycle card box so that the fake front matches the real front of the box. Wrap a rubber band around the middle of the card case to hold everything in place. Turn the box over and place the small "prediction card" under the rubber band with its blank side facing out. You're now set to perform. From a distance of a few feet, the box of playing cards appears to be just that and nothing more.
