To Prepare

Naturally, you'll need the "Pencorder." You'll also need eleven 3" x 5" file cards (even though you state that there are ten cards and ten villains during the performance) on which you have boldly printed the names of the eleven villains listed in the first paragraph, one name to each card. Stack the cards face down with "The Blank" third from the top of the face down packet and "The Brow" fifth from the top. These two villains will be your force names. Set the channel switch on the pen to "A." Press "record" and read your first prediction into the microphone on top of the pen. Deepen your voice and try to sound like someone else, hopefully, Dick Tracy. The prediction should not be more than 20 seconds. For example, "This is Dick Tracy speaking. I have a premonition that a member of Larry Becker's audience will randomly select one of my greatest adversaries from a choice of ten villains. The name of that villain is, "The Blank!" Thank you for tuning in."

Now, switch the channel to "B." On channel "B" record a similar prediction, but substitute "The Brow" for "The Blank." For the few who may not be familiar with the "European 10/11" force that's employed in this effect, the procedure limits the spectator's apparently free choice to just two possible names. Incidentally, it is important that you record the two prediction only a few minutes before your show. The reason? The pen must be left on once the predictions have been recorded, or the pen automatically erases them to conserve the batteries. Simply type up the script on a small card and keep it in your wallet so you'll always be set to record. After recording the predictions, place the pen in your inside jacket pocket. Place a paper clip on the eleven file cards and place in your right hand jacket pocket. That covers the advance preparation, now to the performance itself.
