Ghost Power

EFFECT: A lump of sugar is dropped into a glass of water, and it sinks to the bottom. The performer by the aid of ghost power causes the sugar to rise to the surface of the water and remain there.

METHOD: The sugar is prepared as follows: Dip the cube into a solution of collodion. This must be done quickly as the sugar should be submersed only for an instant. Allow it to dry and it is ready for use. Later on when the cube is dropped into the water it will sink to the bottom. As soon as the coating dissolves, the sugar will rise to the surface. Prepare a few cubes and experiment so that you will be able to judge the length of time between the moment it settles to the bottom and when it rises.
