Effect

From a spectator's table the performer borrows a wine or champagne glass (which can be used or even filled) and sets it on a pile of books resting on his table. Then he asks the rest of the spectators to hold their glasses high in the air.

The performer concentrates on the glasses before him and asks the audience to do the same. After a few suspenseful seconds, the stem of the glass on the pile of books slowly and visibly bends! And eventually it is noticed that the power of the group's concentration has caused stems on other glasses in the audience—glasses the performer has never touched— to bend as well!
