Starburst

You'll need five colorful balloons for this hat.

DIFFICULTY SCALE: 2

i Make a basic hat frame (see page 69, Figure 1), but do not fold over i and attach the top of the balloon.

Fully inflate the four remaining balloons. Gather the balloons in their centers and twist. You may need an adult's assistance.

Fold and shape balloons

2Twist the middle of the top of the hat frame section to the joint of the four balloons. Pull down the top of the hat frame. Make a small bubble and join it to the front rim of the hat.

Fold the starburst balloons into different shapes by creasing, bending, and folding the balloons.

With a few balloons, you can make interesting costumes in minutes. Unless otherwise specified, use 260 balloons for all the projects.

BODY FRAME

DIFFICULTY SCALE: 2

This is the basic frame from which you can build on to make your costumes. You start with two balloons.

^ Fully inflate the two balloons 1 and twist them together in half

2 Make small bubbles on the end of each balloon and twist these bubbles together.

CS 2

3Twist all four bubbles together. Fit this frame on a child by slipping the balloons over the child's head and arms. The gathered end with the twisted bubbles is the back of the body frame.
